Convert Starling Bank CSV to QBO / QFX / OFX

Starling's help separates monthly statements from a transaction summary. Statements are PDF. The CSV is the summary, and it is limited to the last 12 months. The article does not mention QBO, QFX, QIF, or OFX.

Convert your file now: open the converter. It runs in your browser, your statement is never uploaded, and it's free up to 30 transactions per file.

Download the CSV summary

How do I receive my statements? says monthly statements are PDF or large-print PDF, ready between the 4th and the 10th of the next month. For custom dates:

  1. Open the account menu at the top right.
  2. Tap Statements and documents.
  3. Select Statement history.
  4. Tap the blue "Go to feed exports" link at the top.
  5. Choose Current month to date, Last 3 full months, or Custom date range. Custom dates have to fall in the last 12 months.
  6. Choose CSV. PDF and large-print PDF are the other choices.

Starling says a transaction summary is not a verifiable statement. It is still the spreadsheet. Anything older than 12 months is outside the custom range they describe. Monthly PDF statements are not a substitute this converter can read.

CSV columns

The source linked below does not publish the column headings in the file. After you download it, use the header row you actually see. In the converter, map a date, a description, and either one signed amount or separate money-in and money-out columns. The preview rewrites dates as YYYY-MM-DD so you can confirm the day and the month before you download.

Convert it

  1. Open the converter and drop in the CSV or Excel file. Excel (.xlsx or .xls) is fine.
  2. If the bank put your name or account number above the table, set the header row to the row that names the columns.
  3. Map the date, the description, and either one signed amount or separate paid-in and paid-out columns. Confirm the dates in the preview, which shows them as YYYY-MM-DD.
  4. Choose QBO for QuickBooks Desktop, QFX for Quicken, or OFX, and download.

FAQ

Why is there no QBO or QFX button?

Starling's statement article lists PDF, large-print PDF, and CSV for the summary export. Convert the CSV.

Can I export more than 12 months?

The custom date range they document is any dates in the last 12 months. Last 3 full months and the current month to date are the other presets.

I downloaded several months as a ZIP of PDFs.

That is the monthly statement download when you select more than one month. Go to feed exports and choose CSV instead.
