Convert Chase CSV to QBO / QFX / OFX

Chase's article on Spending Planner is the download we can cite. It is a spending download for Chase checking and credit card customers, not a promise about every button on the account-activity page.

Convert your file now: open the converter. It runs in your browser, your statement is never uploaded, and it's free up to 30 transactions per file.

Download from Spending Planner

What's Chase Spending Planner? (31 October 2024) says:

  • On a desktop computer, sign in at Chase.com and open the tool under "Manage Your Spending Plan" in the "Plan, Track, or Manage" dashboard. Further down the Spending Summary tab there are options to download spending data for this year and the previous one.
  • On a desktop computer you can download transactions in a spreadsheet (CSV), Quicken Web Connect (QFX), Quicken or Microsoft Money (QIF), or QuickBooks Web Connect (QBO) for the last two years.
  • In the Chase Mobile app, the download described in the article is a PDF of transactions for the last calendar year.

The two-year cap is the limit Chase states for that desktop download. QIF is not a Web Connect file for current Quicken or for QuickBooks Desktop. If you are on a phone, or you need a file outside that two-year window, the article does not offer a QBO download. Use a CSV from a computer when you have one, and convert it.

CSV columns

The source linked below does not publish the column headings in the file. After you download it, use the header row you actually see. In the converter, map a date, a description, and either one signed amount or separate money-in and money-out columns. The preview rewrites dates as YYYY-MM-DD so you can confirm the day and the month before you download.

Convert it

  1. Open the converter and drop in the CSV or Excel file. Excel (.xlsx or .xls) is fine.
  2. If the bank put your name or account number above the table, set the header row to the row that names the columns.
  3. Map the date, the description, and either one signed amount or separate paid-in and paid-out columns. Confirm the dates in the preview, which shows them as YYYY-MM-DD.
  4. Choose QBO for QuickBooks Desktop, QFX for Quicken, or OFX, and download.

FAQ

Chase already offers QBO. Why convert a CSV?

The QBO option Chase describes is on desktop Spending Planner and covers the last two years. The phone download in that article is PDF only. A CSV from the same desktop tool is what you convert when you need a fresh QBO or QFX file, including when QuickBooks or Quicken will not take the bank's file.

Is this the same as Chase in the UK?

No. This article is about Chase.com Spending Planner for Chase consumer accounts in the United States.

Can I convert the PDF from the mobile app?

Not with Rowbridge. Download the CSV on a computer.
